CHELSEA FLOWER SHOW 2018

Thanks again to the lovely team at Tom Raffield for my Birthday ticket to the Chelsea Flower Show!

HIGHLIGHTS

MYELOMA GARDEN

A garden that explores the juxtaposition between inspiring contemporary sculpture, naturalistic planting and a strong message.

The Myeloma UK Garden was inspired by Peter King, a Myeloma UK supporter whose wife Gill and brother Graham passed away in 2016 after a short battle with myeloma. It was designed to raise awareness of myeloma, an incurable form of blood cancer that originates in the bone marrow. This condition, while treatable, is not yet curable.

LEMON TREE TRUST + TOM MASSEY

Inspired by the resilience, determination and ingenuity of refugees living in Domiz camp in Northern Iraq, and designed with their input, this garden highlights the unexpected beauty hidden in the camp. It uses materials typically available in such camps, including concrete and steel, with shade screens inspired by traditional Islamic designs. An ‘innovation wall’ uses everyday objects such as tin cans and plastic bottles, an idea sourced directly from gardens in Domiz.
